James Clyde Lee, 84, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at La Paloma Nursing Center in San Diego, Texas where he was a resident.
James was born Jan. 14, 1938 in Corpus Christi to Hal and Eda Mary (Poenisch) Lee. He was a 1957 graduate of Sundeen High School, Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Corpus Christi before joining the U.S. Air Force where he worked on surveillance aircraft in Guam during the Cold War. He was of the Baptist faith, a self-employed building contractor by trade and an avid hunter and fisherman. His pride and joy was spending time with family and friends at his ranch where is enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, goats and many other animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Eda Mary Lee; two brothers, Hal Ernest Lee and Robert Lee; a sister, Eda Margaret Cole; and a granddaughter, Audrey Lee Keith.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his daughter, Theresa Lee Smith of Garland; a son, James Carl Lee of Mathis; a brother, William E. (Linda) Lee of Mathis; a sister, Mary Jo Lee of Tucson, Arizona; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Oakville Cemetery with Pastor Ed Gentry officiating. James will be laid to rest beside his father.
