Yung "Ruby" Sook Kim

Yung Sook Kim (“Ruby”), 85, of Beeville, Texas, passed away November 21, 2023, at the Birchwood of Beeville.  

Yung was born July 20, 1938, in KyongJu in South Korea, to Kwon One and Kwon Yun. She immigrated to the United States in 1970.

Ruby lived in Skidmore, Texas from 1970 to 1991, where she managed the Circle C Burger Restaurant and eventually was the General Manager of the Skidmore Dairy Queen.  Ruby moved to the Beeville community in 1991 to become the General Manager of the Dairy Queen, where she greeted customers with a friendly smile.   She remained in this position until 2007 when she retired.  In 2006, Ms. Kim achieved the top award given Dairy Queen General Managers in Texas, being named the “Top General Manager of the Year” out of 500 locations.  Ms. Kim’s faith was also important to her, as she regularly attended the Baptist Church in Beeville, TX.

Ms. Kim is survived by two step children, Judith (Judy) Kim and Eric Kim, his wife Jyyeun Kim, and their children, Jonathan, Caleb and Chloe Kim; her nephew, Sang Wook Kwon and his wife, Hyunkyung Kwon and their children, Jenny and Joanne Kwon.  She is also survived by her “adopted” daughter, Ms. Elsa Guerra (whom she raised to be the current General Manager of the Dairy Queen in Beeville, TX), and her two “adopted” grandchildren, Marina and Marissa Hernandez.  The family would also like to thank Ms. Diana Guerra for her loving care as Ruby’s primary home health care provider for the past six years.  

As per her wishes, no services will be held.
