Wesley “Bunky” Clyde Kopplin, 60, of Gillett, Texas, passed away Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023.
Bunky, as he was fondly known, was born July 14, 1962, in Beeville to Alfred H. Kopplin, Sr. and Delaphine L. (Weber) Kopplin. He was a 1982 graduate of A.C. Jones High School. Bunky was an amazing Daddy, baby brother and loving son. He spent many years working in construction and oilfield. Bunk spent a few years as a restaurant owner, but first and foremost, he was a Cowboy and Rancher. He was a member of Raw Hide, Old Chisholm Trail Riders, and Herrmanson Hall of Yorktown. Bunky spent a few years volunteering at the San Antonio Rodeo and Livestock Show. He was very active in 4H, FFA and Circle B Rodeo Club as a youth. He enjoyed family, friends and good music. Bunky was the life of the party, and always on the go. Nobody ever went hungry around him. He loved to cook and over cook. Before the days of trail riding, Bunk spent past time in the roping pens. If there was a time you didn’t catch him on a horse or wagon, you could find him somewhere fishing. He loved everyone, with a heart as big as Texas and a smile to light up the room. Most of all, he loved being a daddy to his girls but being Papa was his favorite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Delaphine Kopplin; a brother, Alfred “Butch” Kopplin, Jr.; a sister, Dora Wolfe; and grandson, Heath Lane Kopplin-Gisler.
Survivors include his daughters, Heather (Cody) Musick of Beeville and Brittany (Dalton) Simmons of Seguin; best friend and companion, Bebo; granddaughters, Gavina Musick and Kimora Dupree; brothers, Leslie “Buddy” Kopplin of George West and David Wolfe of Cotulla; sisters, Lou (Frank) Schulenberg of Beeville, Dellene (Craig) Blackmore of New Braunfels and Patricia Kopplin of Beeville; nephews and nieces, Scott (Emilee) Trlica, Amy (Earl) Bishop, Clint (Jana) Wolfe, Carrie (Drew) DeArmond and Layton “Chase” Kopplin; along with many cousins and great-nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Ray Point Community Center in Ray Point followed by a barbecue and music to celebrate his life.
Burial will be private.
