Walter Quintanilla

It is with sadness that the family of Walter Quintanilla announces his unexpected passing on May 14, 2024, at his home in Beeville, Texas at the age of 60.

Wally, as he was fondly known, was born June 14, 1963, in Beeville to Jose Angel and Maria Elva (Gutierrez) Quintanilla. He attended Beeville ISD and worked with NAPA for 10 years as an auto and diesel parts specialist. His love for cars, particularly Camaros, and his involvement in car races in Houston showcased his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Wally's sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones especially his daughter, Ashley, and his new grandson, Leonidas, whom he adored. Spending time with his family brought him immense joy and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Quintanilla; and a brother, Gilbert Quintanilla.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashley (Will) Hester of Barksdale; his grandson, Leonidas Lee Hester; two sisters, Leonore Quintanilla and Eunice (Quintanilla) Villanueva; three brothers, Arnulfo Quintanilla, Jimmy (Blanca) Quintanilla and Edward (Elva) Quintanilla; an aunt, Paula Quintanilla; nieces and nephews, Michael (Mone) Quintanilla, James Quintanilla; Jessica (Freddie) Gonzales-Jimenez, Pete G. Villanueva Jr., Christopher Quintanilla, Christina Quintanilla, Daniel A. (Liz) Quintanilla and Melissa (Randall) Stewart.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2 o’clock. Minister Larry Elliott will officiate.

Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Pete G. Villanueva Jr., Daniel A. Quintanilla, Travis Luce, Oscar Canales, Davian Gomez, Jackson Ruiz, Solomon Bamoski, Zach Davis and Gerald Schleig.

Jimmy Quintanilla, Edward Quintanilla, Izzy Gomez, Randall Stewart, Arnulfo Quintanilla, Freddie Jimenez and Louie Vasquez will serve as honorary pallbearers.
