Vestal Bernie Odom

In Loving Memory of Vestal Bernie Odom

Our beloved Vestal Odom, born October 18th, 1978, in Beeville, Texas, passed away on May 3rd, 2024, at the age of 45.

Vestal, son of Byron Allen Odom and Judith Kay (Witte) Odom, was a devoted child of God, loving parent, cherished friend and a beloved member of his family. He was a faithful servant of the Lord, dedicated to spreading love, kindness, and compassion to all those around them. He lived his life with a spirit of generosity and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own without hesitation. He had a contagious smile and an outgoing spirit that touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a 1997 graduate of Calallen High School.

Besides his love and commitment to his children and family, Vestal’s love of the outdoors was a huge passion for him. He enjoyed his role as a Site Director at Camp El Tesoro where he dedicated numerous years. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada, Texas and of the Knights of Columbus and served his community proudly with the Granbury American Legion, Garwood Volunteer Fire Department and the EMS.

Vestal will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Debra Odom, Braden Odom and John Odom; his girlfriend, Ty Russell; his siblings, Byron Odom, Larry Odom (Beth), Valter Odom (Lisel), Kevin Odom, Kathy Robertson (Will), Bernice Simmons (Robert) and Loid Odom (Liz); and other family members, who take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the arms of our Lord. He will be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to those around him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live a life of faith, love, and service to others.

A Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada, Texas followed by the funeral Mass at 3 o’clock.

The burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, in the Three Rivers Cemetery in Three Rivers, Texas where we will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Vestal. He will be reunited with his parents, Byron and Judy Odom; brother, Monte Whipple; and sisters, Deborah Odom and Joyce Rochford.

Pallbearers will be Byron Odom, Larry Odom, Valter Odom, Kevin Odom, Loid Odom, Marvin Nash, Billy Macek and David Allen.

Serving as honorable pallbearers will be Braden Odom and AJ Robertson.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
