Sylvia Garcia

Sylvia (Cuevas) Garcia, 61, of Houston, died Saturday, July 14, 2018.

Mrs. Garcia was born July 8, 1957, to Estevan and Olivia (Lane) Cuevas in Beeville. She married Mario Garcia Nov. 13, 1986, in Pasadena. She was a nursing home attendant and a member of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband, Mario Garcia of Houston; father, Estevan Cuevas of George West; daughter, Michelle Cuevas (Manuel) Garcia of Ingleside; three grandchildren, Mezilyn, Madden and Madilyn; and seven sisters, Tina (Cuevas) Gallagher, Esmeralda Cuevas and Ninfa Cuevas, all of George West, Mary Medina of Pearland, Elda Cuevas and Maria Cuevas, both of Round Rock, and Adela Lane of Beeville.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons George West Chapel. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, at St. George Catholic Church with Father George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lane, Bobby Cuevas, Joe Cuevas, Mario Garcia, Allen Cuevas and Arthur Medina Jr.

Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson, Madden.
