Soila (Ramon) Cruz, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home in George West, Texas on July 15, 2025, at the age of 79.
Soila was born January 20, 1946, in Buckeye, Arizona, to Francisco Ramon and Aurora (Segundo) Ramon. She obtained her GED later in life and went on to earn an associate’s degree. Soila was particularly proud of her role as a member of St. George Catholic Church, where she found joy and purpose within her faith community. In addition, she was a talented seamstress, a dedicated homemaker and a successful business owner. Her creativity and hard work were not only reflected in her professional endeavors but also in her commitment to her family.
Her children will forever be grateful for their wonderful Mother’s many sacrifices and hard labor to keep them safe and secure. She instilled in them strength and family values and they will proudly carry on her legacy. A woman who refused to be left behind, Soila conquered many fears including learning how to swim later on in life.
Soila was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Aurora Ramon; her daughter, Margie Rebecca Cruz; her sister, Delia Alvarez; her brothers, Roger Ramon and Frank Ramon; and her grandparents, Porfirio and Guadalupe Segundo.
Survivors include her loving son, Robert (Criselda) Cruz, Jr.; twin daughters who were her pride and joy, Alice (Cruz) Morrow and Annie Cruz (Juan) Lopez; four sisters, Janie Santos, Yolanda Bermea, Norma Santos and Gloria Lopez; as well as nine cherished grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, at St. George Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated there that morning at 11 o’clock with burial to follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Ray Cruz, Gabriel Soliz, Sean Guevara, Brett Morrow, Rhyder Guerrero and Juan Lopez. Robert Cruz Jr. will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Angel Bright Hospice and Stephanie Cruz and to their Mom’s caretaker and friend, Juanita Rodriguez.
