Ronnie Neal Conn, age 81, passed away May 8, 2026. He was born on September 3, 1944, to Robert and Martha Conn in Three Rivers, Texas.
A man who was strong in his faith, Ronnie was a lifetime member of the Three Rivers Church of Christ. He married Sally Sue Slaughter on December 27, 1969. They were happily married for 56 years. They had two sons, James Neal Conn and Robert Daniel Conn. Ronnie worked at the Three Rivers Valero Refinery, formerly Diamond Shamrock, for 33 years. Ronnie and his family resided in Simmons where he was an avid outdoorsman. You could often find him searching for arrowheads, hunting deer, fishing in the Nueces River, or planting in his garden. When he was not in Simmons, he was either cheering on the Three Rivers Bulldogs or eating at Sowell’s BBQ. He loved Sowell’s BBQ, not only for the food, but for the witty banter that always went along with his meal. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Three Rivers Bulldog sporting events, and he was his children and grandchildren’s proudest supporter. His favorite title was “Pawpaw,” and he took his job seriously. He loved his family deeply and cared for them always.
Ronnie was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert B. Conn and Martha Ruth Carroll Conn; his brother, Earl D. Whitley; and his sister, Betty McCoun.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Conn; his sons, Jimmy Conn and Robby (Marissa) Conn; his grandchildren, Bradley Conn, Brandon (Sadie) Conn, Ethan Conn, and Everly Conn.
