On September 16, 2024, Roberta Maxine Foster, 88, of George West, Texas, was completely healed from dementia and entered the kingdom of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was greeted by her husband, Bud Foster; and her two children, Lisa Dianne and Charles Foster.

Maxine was born October 28, 1935, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late William Haskell Sharp and Ivy Roberta (Lance) Foster and raised in California. She married Edgar C. “Bud” Foster on Oct. 1, 1954, in Azusa, California. She was the author of one novel and numerous amusing stories about cowboy life. She also wrote many Christian songs and received awards for her photography.

She and Bud lived in George West for many years, and they often entertained at nursing homes and other venues playing their guitars and singing Christian songs. Maxine had learned to play the bass guitar when she was in her late 60s.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Johnny Sharp, his wife Judy; her nieces, Yvette, Elena and Valerie; her nephew, Steven; granddaughter, Trinity Michelle Foster; and special family member, Dylan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26, at First Baptist Church of George West.
