Richard Dirks Jr.

Richard William Dirks, Jr., 69, of Beeville, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018.
Richard was born October 28, 1948, in Beeville, Texas to Sandy and R.W. "Bill" Dirks. He was a proud graduate of Pettus High School as well as Bee County College and attended Oklahoma State Technical College. Richard lived life his own unique way. He loved collecting bottles, insulators and antiques of all kinds. He also loved traveling. He was an accomplished amateur artist and spent many hours studying under mentor, Simon Michael. Many of his paintings are in the homes of family members.
Richard worked for Texas Instruments in Houston early in his career and then later joined the family business in Tuleta, where he retired in 2013.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy.
He is survived by his father, Bill Dirks; sisters Susan Dirks and Laura (Jon) Fischer; and niece Lauron Fischer (Colin Meyer).
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, with Rev. Don Taylor officiating.
The family would like to thank Anysia Gomez and the staff at 801 Gramman for enriching Richard's life this past year. They are also very grateful for the care provided the last few months by Janette Watson and her staff at Exclusive Hospice Care.
