Ret. Fire Chief Donald "Donnie" C. Morris

Emblem

Donald C. “Donnie” Morris, 94, of Beeville, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Born on May 13, 1931, in Breckenridge, Texas, Donnie lived a life defined by service and hard work. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, and owner of Morris Radiator Shop in Beeville for decades. But he was best known for his remarkable 70-year tenure with the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department — a true legend in the community, always first to respond, lead, and lend a hand.

Donnie married Helen Lockwood on September 18, 1956, in Normanna. Their 68 years of marriage were filled with love, devotion, and partnership, building a family centered on faith, integrity, and happiness.

He was a man of many passions — whether he was fishing, swapping stories with friends and family, or fighting fires, Donnie always brought energy, heart, and a touch of wit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Alice Morris, and his brothers, Cliff and Bill Morris.

Left to celebrate his life are his wife, Helen Morris; sons, Mark (Susan) Morris and Michael Morris; grandchildren, Mandy (Craig) Becker, Colten (Kathryn) Morris, Alicen (David) Tignor, and Matthew (Rachel) Morris; and eight great-grandchildren who filled his later years with pride and joy.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.

The funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at First Baptist Church in Beeville. Burial will follow at the San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna.

Pallbearers include Chief Bill Burris, Assistant Chief Kirk Delgado, Lt. Lanny Holland, Lt. Kevin Fulsom, retired firefighters Roger Perkins, and Bobby Clark.

Honorary pallbearers are Jack Bond and all past and present members of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary.

Donnie Morris was more than a fire chief — he embodied a legacy of bravery, selflessness, and steadfast dedication to protecting others. His legacy lives on in every life he touched, every fire he fought, and every smile he inspired.
