Raymond Manley Brundrett

Raymond Manley Brundrett went to be with his Lord on July 31, 2026.

He was born on June 1, 1934, to Clifton and Nora Brundrett, and the baby of three sons. Raymond graduated from Skidmore-Tynan High School in 1953.

He was always proud to say he only used his Social Security number one time, as he started work on his nineteenth birthday for CPL/AEP, where he faithfully worked for 37 years. He began climbing utility poles and eventually became a construction coordinator, working in Sinton, Corpus Christi, Aransas Pass, and Alice before returning to Corpus Christi, where he spent most of his remaining career on the road. He was also very active in the VREA, serving as an officer for many years.

His life mainly centered around his church, family, work, and baseball. His church family, relatives, and friends meant the world to him.

Before being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, he never missed a Hooks game, attending nearly 70 games each year. He was recognized for many years for having perfect attendance and was proud to be a member of the special "118 Group."

His church and church family were especially dear to his heart. He found great joy in purchasing items such as soap and school supplies for Lutheran World Relief. Many adults still fondly remember him as the "Candy Man" because he always made sure the children received candy after church. He was willing to do whatever was needed to serve his church.

Everyone knew him for his wonderful cooking—fried shrimp, chicken-fried steak, shrimp salad, pecan cupcakes (which he once provided for a VREA luncheon), and many other home-cooked meals. At JOY (Just Older Youth), he would bring six or seven dishes instead of just one. He truly had a servant's heart, always putting others before himself and giving generously. Throughout his life, he quietly helped many people by paying college tuition, purchasing cars, paying rent, or meeting whatever need they had.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Calvin and Weldon; his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Faye; and his brothers-in-law, Alton and John.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Kim; and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Kyle, who lovingly called him "Papa." He is also survived by Pam, who called him her "step-in father," and her two children, who affectionately called him "Pepaw"; his sisters-in-law, Alice and Patsy; nieces and nephews, who meant so much to him, including Jeanine, Russell, Stephen, Terry, Alvin, Marie, Shari, Michelle, Patrick, and John Jr. Some affectionately called him "Bunny." He is further survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as countless dear friends who lovingly supported the family by bringing meals, bananas, and offering their care and encouragement.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Galilean Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the same location, with Pastors Fred Winkler and Alvin John Luedke officiating.

Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery in Beeville, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Jasper Walker, Stephen Brundrett, Russell Brundrett, Drew Davis, Joey John, Patrick Clarke, John Bremer Jr., Jerry Dittmar, and Robert Hoelscher.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy DeHaven and David Ross.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, Lucy, Kyle, Yolanda, and Claudia. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Shari for staying by his bedside during his final days and nights, and to Michelle for being there during the day.
