Norris Edward “Ed” Turner, 82, of Blanconia, Texas, passed away January 9, 2026.
Ed was born in Huntsville, Texas on June 28, 1943, to William Norris Turner and Willie Lee (Lewis) Turner and was raised in the Houston area. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Navy. During his naval career, he served duty stations on the West coast from California to Washington State and on the East coast from Florida to Maine. His aircraft carrier deployments included the USS Nimitz, the USS Forrestal and the USS America. After 23 years of service, Ed retired from active duty at NAS Chase Field, Beeville. He continued his work on naval aircraft until the closure of Chase Field. He then attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and earned an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology. He worked as an X-ray/CT tech at Doctors Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi and Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville.
Ed loved to read. A book was his constant companion.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail Huser Turner; sons, Dennis Turner of Talladega, Alabama and Tom (Tina) Turner of Hockley, Texas; grandchildren, Austin Turner and Sarah Turner (Aaron) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Ruth, Hosea, Rebekah and Elijah Lewis; and his dog, Charlie.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with the funeral service at 10 o’clock.
Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy Bower, Evan Welch and Paul Eagan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed’s name may be made to The Dornburg Center of Compassion, Hospice of South Texas, 1005 Mallette Drive, Victoria, Texas 77904.
