Nancy Kay Vasek

It is with sadness that the family of Nancy Kay Vasek, 56, of Beeville, Texas announces her passing on March 12, 2024. If you are reading this, Nancy would tell you she has kicked the bucket.

Nancy was born July 31, 1967, in Beeville to James Allen and Olga Mae (Taylor) Vasek. She was a 1985 graduate of Rockport High School and later attended Bee County College. She earned an associate degree in business administration and was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for numerous years. Nancy enjoyed crafting, but her greatest joy was working with Toys for Tots and giving back to her community.

Nancy was the No. 1 fan of the Houston Astros and would turn off the TV if they were behind in hopes by her not watching they would win. She was also the biggest George Strait fan and getting an up-close glimpse of him was the highlight of her life.

She enjoyed life, hanging out with friends and traveling. Her laugh was contagious and her smile lit up a room.

For us here, Nancy will be missed, but for her life was lived to the beat of her own drum to the very end.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Olga Mae Vasek.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include her loving life partner, Sam McCoy III; her father, James A. Vasek; her sister, Carolyn “Susie” (Jack) Freiley of Beeville; two nieces, Mandy Freiley and Kim (Rey) Colon; great-nephew, Jax Colon; great-niece, Kate Colon; aunt, JoAnn Vornsand; and her four-legged children, Jack Jack and Meow Me.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Weimar Masonic Cemetery in Weimar, Texas. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear Houston Astros attire in honor of Nancy who was an avid fan.
