Myrna Jean (Knight) Hatcher, 85, passed away at her home in Bee County, Texas on Friday, June 6, 2025, lovingly surrounded by her family.
Myrna was born April 8, 1940, in Manassas, Georgia, to James Robert Knight and Frances Mae (Lynn) Knight. In October 1958, she joined the U.S. Air Force and while proudly serving her country, she met the love of her life, Clarence “Wayne” Hatcher. They married on June 13, 1959. Myrna dedicated herself to her family and community wherever the Air Force sent them until settling in Beeville. Together with her husband, Wayne, she co-owned Hatcher Water Well Service, nurturing a successful business that served many in the area. She was deeply involved in her local community and Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Knight; four sisters, Mary Frances Lamb, Nan Jarriel, Myra Spell and Jacqueline Holland; one brother, H.L. Knight; and her beloved husband, Wayne Hatcher.
Survivors include her two sons, David (Peggy) Hatcher of Corpus Christi and Daniel (Susanne) Hatcher of Virginia; as well as one brother, Ronnie Knight of Hazelhurst, Georgia. She was a beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her. Also missing Myrna are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with the funeral service at 10 o’clock. Pastor Tim Stowe will officiate. Military honors will be rendered immediately following the service.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Beeville Memorial Park where Myrna will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Myrna’s memory to a local charity of one’s choice.
