Morris S. Winkle, 86, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away July 13, 2026.
Morris was born on July 1, 1940, in Quitman, Texas to Morris Winkle Sr. and Nell Kennamer Winkle. Morris earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He began his career in education at William Adams High School in Alice, Texas, before joining Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, where he taught graphic arts, photography, and driver’s education. He later served as assistant principal at both Richard King High School and Baker Middle School.
Following a distinguished career in education, he retired in 1997, and relocated to Round Rock, Texas. During retirement, he and his wife enjoyed square and round dancing and spending time with their grandchildren. He also found great pleasure in woodworking, tending to his yard, and spending time in Seguin and Scroggins, Texas.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Winkle Sr. and Nell Kennamer Winkle.
Survivors include his wife, Ann M. Winkle; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Winkle Middleton and Gary Middleton; grandchildren, Sydney and Grant Middleton; brother, James Winkle; and many loving family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday July 17, 2026, with Rev. Don Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers will be Gary Middleton, Grant Middleton, Carroll Lohse, John Abel, Craig Winkle and James Winkle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Morris’ memory to ROCK Ride On Center for Kids in Georgetown, Texas.
