Melba M. Stridde

Melba Stridde, 100, of Tynan, Texas, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, following a short illness.

Melba was born May 28, 1923, in Bee County to the late Edwin and Charlotte Meyer. She graduated from Mathis High School in 1940 and earned her Associate degree from Texas Lutheran College in 1942. On Oct. 18, 1945, Melba married the love of her life, Herbert Stridde.

Melba used her accounting/business skills she learned at TLC working at the U.S. Armory during and post-World War II. She started work at First National Bank of Beeville in 1963 and retired from there after 24 years. She was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Herbert Stridde; and her sister, Irma Beyer.

Melba is survived by her children, Howard (Judy) Stridde of Shiner, Kathy (Donald) McNabb of LaSalle and Bryan (Julie) Stridde of Tynan; her sister, Verna Mae (H.H.) Laechelin of Beeville; grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Toon, Cari Lynn (Brandon) Siegel, Adam (Stacie) McNabb, Megan (Billy) Stridde-Tussey, Kenton (Natalie) Stridde and William A. Stridde; six great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Landon and Andrew McNabb, Adelynn Siegel and Bowie and Waylon Stridde; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan with the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Waldheim Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather from 1 to 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Beeville.
