Mary Esther (Brionez) Gomez took the hand of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Esther, as she was known by most, was born September 29, 1954, to Israel “Riley” R. Brionez, Sr. and Maria “Mary” T. Brionez in Beeville. She graduated in 1973 from A.C. Jones High School and Bee County College in 1975. She was a retiree from Coastal Bend College and employed part-time with the Bee County Adult Literacy Council. She married Armando P. Gomez on June 26, 1982, in Beeville. Esther was Pentecostal. She was a founding member of New Hope Christian Church as well as board secretary and secretary for the Women of Hope Ministry and Sunday School department for many years. Her compassionate spirit and wholehearted devotion were evident in every aspect of her life, especially in the deep bond she held with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Armando P. Gomez Sr.; her father, Israel Brionez, Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Norma Gomez.
Survivors include her mother, Maria “Mary” T. Brionez; son, Jacob A. (Cynthia) Gomez of San Antonio; her husband's children, Armando (Linda) Gomez, Jr. of Portland, Veronica Gomez and Angela Gomez, both of Sinton; two sisters, Betty (Salvador) Rincon and Debbie Adamez; one brother, Israel (Jay) Brionez, Jr. (Marissa) all of Beeville; her grandchildren, Evan Anthony and Iliana Merari Gomez of San Antonio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at New Hope Christian Church with the funeral service at 1 o’clock officiated by Pastor Salvador P. Rincon, Jr. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Armando Gomez, Jr., Rudy Flores, Moses Shirsefat, Jason Perez, Carlos Adamez, Josef Brionez, Jared Paul Carrillo and Jason Gallagher.
Esther’s unwavering faith, gentle kindness and radiant spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire generations.
