Margarita Colunga

Margarita (Cuevas) Colunga, 76, of George West, Texas passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

Margarita was born September 13, 1945 in George West to Inocente (Morin) Cuevas and Desidoro Cuevas. She married Adolfo Colunga in George West on August 14, 1966 where she was an active member of St. George Catholic Church. Her role as a homemaker made her an absolute caring and loving mother who enjoyed being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Inocente and Desidoro Cuevas; and her husband, Adolfo Colunga.

Left behind to cherish fond members include her two daughters, Sandra Colunga and Elizabeth (Jose) Colunga, both of George West; one son, Orlando (Ana) Colunga of George West; four sisters, Mary (Pedro) Rangel, Virginia (Antonio) Rangel, Catherine Carrillo and Stella (Felix) Fernandez, all of George West; six brothers, Johnny (Veronica) Cuevas of Mount Pleasant, Fernando (Celia) Cuevas, Santos Cuevas, Richard (Nancy) Cuevas and David (Oralia) Cuevas, all of George West, and Priscilliano (Rafaela) Cuevas of Beeville; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 7, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, at St. George Catholic Church with Father Romeo Salinas officiating. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Pallbearers will be Robert Rutledge, Joseph Martinez, Adolfo Colunga, James Torres, Roel Cuevas and Santos Cuevas.
