Margaret "Margie" Elizabeth George

Mrs. Margaret "Margie" Elizabeth (Stewart) George, 92, of Warrenton, MO passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Margie was born August 29, 1932, in Beeville, Texas to Luther and Sue (Terry) Stewart. She was a homemaker and took great joy in caring for her family and home. She loved sewing and genealogy. She was an avid reader and would often read a book a day. Margie also had a passion for traveling. She had the opportunity to travel around the world to several different countries. She also enjoyed going on many cruises. Margie loved her family dearly. They were the most important part of her life. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to many. Her presence will be greatly missed.

Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe George; her parents, Luther and Sue Stewart; and one son, Joe Tod Gerfers.

Survivors include her children, Susan (Joe) Hilsman, Katherine (Dan) Merkel and Ronnie (Edith) George; five grandchildren, Keith Hilsman, Robyn (Dennis) Clancy, Jason (Ashley) Gerfers, Amanda Burazin and Austin (Amanda) Merkel; many great and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Liz) Stewart and Lonnie (Addie) Stewart; as well as other relatives and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at the George West Cemetery in George West, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Goliad, Texas or South Texas Children's Home also in Goliad.
