Manuela (Tamez) Vega, 99, a beloved and cherished matriarch, passed away May 24, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and dedication.
Manuela was born April 21, 1926, in Sinton to Indalasio and Guadalupe (Contreras) Tamez. She was a woman of great strength, known for her unwavering work ethic and her deep commitment to her family. She never met a stranger - her warmth, kindness and generous spirit touched all who knew her. A mighty woman of God, Manuela lived her life guided by faith and was a devout member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was a pillar of strength and compassion to those around her. As a dedicated past employee with the Bee Community Action Agency, she helped with the Meals on Wheels program helping feed numerous families. She loved making and wearing hats, as well as being outdoors enjoying nature while feeding birds and tending to her garden. Praising, singing and writing songs to her Lord brought her much joy and inner peace.
Manuela's life was a testament to love, perseverance and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Indalasio and Guadalupe Tamez; and children, Jose “Joe” Vega, Liobardo Vega and Yolanda Wright.
Survivors include her devoted children, Diego Vega Jr., Rosalinda Posada, Margie Commiato and Raymond Vega. Her love continues through her abundance of precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 1 o’clock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 o’clock that afternoon at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Isaias Estepa officiating.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Diego Vega, Jr., Adrian Vega, Garry Sugarek, Randy Perez, Eloy Garcia, Dennis Flint and Gabriel Jaimes.
