Manuel G. "MeMe" Martinez, went to be with The Lord on January 14, 2018. He was born on August 18, 1943 to Antonio and Tomasa (Gutierrez) Martinez in Lagarto, Texas. Manuel was a horseman, having worked in the ranching industry all of his life. He also was a beloved brother, husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Encarnacion Martinez; four sisters, Josefina Martinez, Felecita Rackley, Leonor Olivo and Maria Urdialez; and stepson, Martin DeLeon.
He is survived by wife, Margarita Martinez of Lagarto; son, Manuel Martinez, Jr. of San Antonio, Irma Martinez, mother to their only son of Austin; stepchildren, John DeLeon, Rita Rathman of Kingwood, Mary Tovar of Refugio, and Diane Charles of Calallen; three brothers, Macario Martinez of George West, Bonafacio Martinez of Woodsboro and Amado Martinez of Skidmore; and two sisters, Seferina Hinojosa of Mathis and Tomasita Morin of Lagarto; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Beeville, Texas with a rosary recited there that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi in Lagarto. Interment will follow at Lagarto Cemetery.
