Maedel “Mimi” Gwendolyn Looney Bunker, 90, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Gramman House in Beeville, Texas surrounded by her loving family after receiving Last Rites from the Rev. Jerry Sneary.

Mrs. Bunker was born on September 21, 1926 in Teague, Texas to Effie Mae (Guttry) and James Burton Looney. She married Harlan L. “Bill” Bunker on April 27, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mimi was a merchandise buyer for the Navy Exchange System. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and the Wednesday Luncheon Club.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn “Jodi” Huegler of Beeville and Susan Schrump and husband Ed of Kingwood; four grandchildren, Sloan Simmons and husband Glenn of Kingwood, Courtney Garcia and husband Carlos of Allen, Slade Schrump and wife Kate of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Ashley Blunt and husband Zander of Austin. Mimi is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Alex and Brant Simmons, Alicia and Ana Garcia, Fergus and Maeve Schrump, Circe and Penelope Blunt. In addition, she is survived by nephew Robert “Bobby” Fulcher of Teague, great-nephews Val Fulcher of Fairfield and Joseph “Joey” Fulcher of Teague, and great-niece Sherry Davis of Fairfield.

Mimi was preceded in death by her parents, Effie and J.B. Looney, her brother, James Looney, two sisters, Josephine Benson and Helen Fulcher, and her loving husband, Bill Bunker.

Visitation will be at Galloway and Sons from 6:00-8:00 on Thursday, July 20, 2017. The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 am on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Clayton Elder officiating with music provided by Mary Ellen Thoms. Pallbearers will be Mimi’s grandchildren- Sloan and Glenn Simmons, Courtney and Carlos Garcia, Slade and Kate Schrump, and Ashley and Zander Blunt. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Schrump, Val Fulcher, C.B. Trial, Jim Crumrine, JD Tindol and Jon Fischer.

Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 311 E. Corpus Christi Street, Beeville, Texas 78102.
