Lynes Eugene Cavallin, 83, of George West, Texas passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.

Lynes was born June 9, 1938 in Jackson County to Clarence Adolph and Betty (Griffith) Cavallin. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy and ended his military career as an E8 Chief Petty Officer retiring in 1977. On November 12, 1988, he married Gwindolene “Gwin” Pyle and they made their home in Livingston, Texas. He was a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Betty Cavallin; a son, Ronald Cavallin; siblings, Melvin Cavallin, Floyd Cavallin, Irvin Cavallin and Pauline La Four; granddaughter Amy Abercrombie; and his wife, Gwin Cavallin, who passed away September 20, 2012.

Left behind to cherish fond memories of their father include his children, Dale (Chris) Cavallin of George West, David (Cindy) Cavallin of George West, Nancy Cavallin (Robert Atkins) of Swinney Switch, Cathy (Bryan) Howe of George West, Jackie Cavallin of George West and Teresa Henderson of Livingston.

He was also blessed with numerous grandchildren, Ronald Douglas (Michelle) Cavallin of Beeville, James Dale (Amanda) Cavallin of Great Falls, Montana, Melisa (Cameron) Brown of Swinney Switch, Paige (Anthony) Louvierre of Franklin, Louisiana, Jim (Veronica) Payne of San Marcos, Bryan Payne of Houston, George (Jessica) Maness of Oklahoma, Sam Maness of Corpus Christi, Jessica (Andrew) Gwinn of Swinney Switch, Nicholette Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas, Heather (Gabriel) Toro of George West, Rebecca (Cory) Cunningham of Harrisonville, Missouri, Ben (Ashley) Daniels of Raymore, Missouri, Karyn Scott (JT) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ray (Brittany) Nuedek of Corpus Christi, Justin Abercrombie of Conroe, Brad Abercrombie of Conroe, Ciara (Dustin) Barksdale of Livingston and Brittany Paschetag of Livingston; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 22, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the funeral service at 5 o’clock with Pastor Pat Traxler officiating.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 23, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Douglas Cavallin, Cameron Clint Brown, Keith Barfield, Sam Maness, Gabriel Toro, Andrew Gwinn and Bryan Payne.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Maness and Jim Payne.
