Ludia Phelps

Ludia Frank Phelps, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017. Mr. Phelps was born Feb. 4, 1932, in Ingleside to Howard and Ruby (Farenthold) Phelps. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Virginia Curbello on April 12, 2001, in Nueces County. He was a Baptist and a member of the American Legion. He retired after 33 years of service from the City of Corpus Christi as a firefighter, Station 12. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Katherine (Vail) Phelps; brother, Gary Phelps; sister, Marlene Perry; and half-brother, W. C. Mahan. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Curbello Phelps; two sons, Frank Phelps of Carrizo Springs and Darrell (Cheryl) Phelps of Robstown; two daughters, Sharon Phelps of Robstown and Sandra (Jimmy) Schneider of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
