IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Keith
Mix
February 8, 1939 – February 16, 2026
On February 16, 2026, Keith Mix rode into the sunset one final time. He passed away at his home in Beeville, Texas surrounded by his loving family eight days after celebrating his 87th birthday.
Keith was born February 8, 1939, in DuBois, Pennsylvania to Paul Devere Mix and Marion Lucille (Curry) Mix. A proud 1956 graduate of Aiken South Carolina High School, he dedicated a significant portion of his life to public service. He worked tirelessly as a post office employee, beginning his career right after high school graduation in Aiken, South Carolina, from 1956 to 1973. He then continued his service at the Corpus Christi Post Office from 1973 to 1980 before settling in Beeville, where he served the community from 1980 until his retirement as a postal and passport clerk in 2000. In addition to his distinguished postal career, Keith also retired from the Beeville Independent School District.
Keith was known for his happy and friendly demeanor, qualities that endeared him to many. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, a hobby that he enjoyed for more than 70 years. His zest for life was infectious, and he built lasting friendships through his shared interests and community involvement.
Keith married Kay Chesnutt on August 29, 1974, sharing a deep and abiding love that enriched their lives together. He was not only dedicated to his family but also to his community and various organizations. As an esteemed member of the Beeville Masonic Lodge, he held several leadership roles, including past Master Mason of Beeville Lodge 261 and president of the Lone Star Road Riders Motorcycle Club. His faith was a cornerstone of his life; as a member of the First Christian Church, he served as Elder Emeritus and was a cherished member of the choir. Keith also shared his musical talents with the Beeville Community Choir and participated in the Barbershop quartet, spreading joy through song. He was also a former member of the Beeville Board of Adjusters.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Emerson Mix; and two sons, Ronald Keith Mix II and Kerry Keith Mix.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his devoted wife of 51 years, Kay (Chesnutt) Mix; daughters, Kelly (Tanner) Worley, Debbie (Joe) Kristosik and Julie (Michael) Lepp; and bonus daughter, Teresa (Chris) Frailey. His memories will live on through his precious grandchildren, Kiera, Joryn, Keegan, Zane, Zachary, Eric, Jason, Jeffery, Daniel, Tiffani and Amber, along with seven great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville followed by a graveside service at 11 o’clock at San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna. Rev. Maggie Mossler will officiate.
