Juan Gomez Rangel

Juan Gomez Rangel, 79, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Juan was born January 21, 1947, in Goliad, Texas to Louisa (Gomez) Rangel and Malcario Rangel.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Juan enlisted in 1965 and served until his honorable discharge in 1990, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Juan was known for his corky sense of humor and his straightforward nature; he was a tough man who said what was on his mind yet possessed a deep-down love and respect for those around him. He was dedicated to staying fit and exercising throughout his life. He married Josefina Torres, on October 07, 1967, in Runge, Tx. He had a profound love for his family and his beloved fur babies, which brought him immense joy and companionship.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Louisa (Gomez) and Malcario Rangel; and a Cousin Ruby Reyna.

Left behind to cherish fond memories include his children, Janet Medina, Johnny (Anysia) Rangel, and Christopher Rangel; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Rangel, Aaron Medina, Anthony Medina Jr., Jacob Rangel, Faith Rangel, Lauryn Rangel, and Johnny Rangel III; two great-grandchildren; Myles Rangel and Mack Rangel; the mother of his children, Josie Rangel; three brothers, Apolonio (Mary) Rangel, Vicente Rangel, and Isidro (Alicia) Rangel; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7’ o’clock.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Friday, March 6, with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. Interment will follow at the Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be United State Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Rangel, Aaron Medina, Jacob Rangel, Johnny Rangel III, Anthony Medina Sr., and Anthony Media Jr.
