John Standlea

John Carrol Standlea, 66, of Beeville, passed away on January 2, 2010. He was born to John A. and Lucille Stone Standlea on January 23, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. He married Barbara Kay Porterfield on August 7, 1961 in Mathis, Texas. John retired as water works superintendent from the City of Beeville. He was past Grand Master of Mathis Masonic Lodge, a volunteer fireman for Beeville and Mathis, and member of American and Texas Water Association. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mathis, Texas. He is survived by his wife Barbara Kay Standlea of Beeville; daughters, Laura Grant of Portland, and Kellie Niemi of Jefferson, Louisiana; brother, Randy Standlea of Mathis, Texas; six grandchildren, Timothy, Jonathon and Sarah Grant, and Chad, Brian, and Lauren Niemi; and one great granddaughter, Katrina Niemi. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Galloway & Sons Chapel in Beeville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or charity of one's choice.
