John Reddick

On Jan. 20, 2010 John G. Reddick Jr. went home to be with his Lord holding the hands of two angels on his way to heaven. Leaving behind his loving family that he vowed he would he see in due time, but to take care of each other and that he would miss them all, but would keep an eye on them and keep them all straight from heaven. Born Feb. 13, 1949 to Stella and John Reddick in Crystal City and raised in Carrizo Springs, Texas where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1967 and then joined the United States Navy, but not before he met the love of his life that he would marry in 1969. John was stationed upon a mine sweeper while the Navy spent most of his time either in Panama City, Fl. or in Charleston, SC. He did an eight month tour overseas while playing "war games" with eight other nations then returning home to get married in June of 1969 to Kay Koehler. After they got out of the Navy they returned to La Pryor and went into the farming business and was there for 18 years before they sold the farms and another business before John went to work for TDCJ/ID. John's first duty station was at the Ferguson Farm and the family lived in Midway outside Huntsville for five months before moving to Amarillo in March of 1990, the family lived there for 2 1/2 years before being transferred to Beeville in Sept. 1992 where the family helped build and opened McConnell. Later John moved over to Chase Field where he helped build and opened it as well. John retired from TDCJ/ID in 1997. John is survived by his wife of 40 years Kay Reddick of Beeville, son and daughter-in-law John and Nancy Reddick of Aransas Pass, daughter Rainel (Nellie) Gardner of San Antonio, three granddaughters Skyllar Krynn Gardner of San Antonio, Ashley Nicole Reddick and Casey Lynn Reddick of Aransas Pass, sister Retha Dotson of Carrizo Springs, sister and brother-in-law Tamara and Doug Digsby of Cleburne, sister and brother-in-law Kerry and Johnnie Bush of Longview, brother Brad Reddick of Rockdale, mother-in-law I.R (Irma) Koehler, sister-in-law Alice Koehler of La Pryor, sister-in-law Sheila Koehler of Austin , grandson Chris Dunn, grandchildren Matthew and Tabitha Graham, great granddaughter Acelyn Rainel Graham, and numerous other family members he will miss and he loves very much. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, brother, step-father, grand-parents, father-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and many other family members. A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Taylor officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Joseph Larakers, Dr. & Mrs. Rodney Schorlemmer, Chris Wolf, San Patricio Sheriff Dept. Reserves, Windmill Emmaus Board, Floyd Wolf and the Wal-Mart Pharmacy's Crew, Faith Lutheran Church Council, Joe & Anita, Ann Goodwin, Suzanne Gillespie, Pat Coffee and all others that John held dear and true to his heart.
