John Thomas "Tom" Johnston, 74, of Papalote, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019.
He was born November 24, 1944, in Longview, Texas, to William Randolph and Geraldine (Hartung) Johnston.
Tom was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 until 1974, when he was honorably discharged. He worked in the casino industry for many years in Las Vegas, Nevada. He moved to Papalote, Texas, in 1992. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Portland, Texas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Tom was well-liked by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, A.J. Gregorczyk.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Gregorczyk of Cypress, Texas; his son, Dr. Jayson (Melissa) Aydelotte of Austin, Texas; niece and nephews, Randy (Ginger) Hatfield of Laguna Beach, California, Jerri (Craig) Deardorff of Cypress; Kenny (Edna) Hatfield of Horseshoe Bay and Jimmy (Connie) Hatfield of Beeville; and four grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Angel Bright Home Health for the gentle care he received.
Tom's wishes were to be cremated. Donations may be made in his memory to FUMC of Portland, Texas.
