Jane Maude Hardy passed away on July 27, 2017. She was born on born March 29, 1934, in Hebbronville, Texas to Nannie Hatcher and Charles Murray Reagan, Sr. After her father passed when she was 7 years old, her family moved to Beeville.
Jane attended school in Beeville and graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1951. She attended Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College in San Marcos. She worked as a librarian at FMC Elementary School in Beeville for several years. She later worked as office manager and bookkeeper at Hardy Motors, the family owned business.
She married Ronald G. “Buddy” Hardy on December 19, 1953. They were inseparable for 63 ½ years. Jane loved spending time with Buddy on weekend camping trips to Rockport and New Braunfels, and daily rides to the ranch to count their new baby calves and spot turkeys. The grandchildren were raised spending weekends piling into the camper trailer, swimming in the Guadalupe River, and riding around in Hardy-built buggies and ATVs. Jane’s favorite pastime was visiting with family and friends. She lived for her family and her family was her world. She lived her life with dignity and grace.
She was a member of the Wednesday Luncheon Club that met on Thursdays, a former member of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Jane was a talented artist, seamstress and baker. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls, especially at Christmas. She enjoyed her monthly luncheon with her high school girlfriends. She was an active life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church. The church was a second home to her and she loved her church family and helping in the kitchen, organizing trips to Mo Ranch and helping with Wednesday Night Live.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nannie and Charles Murray Reagan; her son, Douglas Glen Hardy; her grandson, Reagan Glen Hardy; her sister, Beth Reagan Mock and her husband Roy; her brothers, Charles Murray Reagan Jr., Dick Reagan and his wife Sue, and Jimmie Reagan.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Ronald G. Hardy; daughter, Susan Hardy Heard; grandson, Taylor Michael Heard (Jennifer); granddaughters, Karianne Hardy Schaefer (Bobby), Mairin Reagan Heard and Janalynn Hardy. She also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Stellar Kim Schaefer, Stryder Reagan Schaefer and Kathleen Jane Heard. She is also survived by sisters-in-laws, Jeanne Reagan and Sherry Reagan; Roxane DeSpain Hardy, daughter-in-love; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Charles Murray Reagan, Dick Reagan, Kenny Reagan, Stephen Reagan, David Mock, Greg King, Darell Reagan and Tom Reagan.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Brad Mock, Vince Zoda, as well as friends, Dr. Gary Williams, James Pat Kelly, John Kircher, Donnie Morris and Tim Rider.
