James Clark Pugh, known by most as Jim C., passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.
Jim was born in San Diego, Texas, on August 14, 1938 to James B. and Eva (King) Pugh. He graduated from George West High School in 1956. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served until his 21st birthday. He married Ruby Heinen and together, they raised four children.
Jim began working for the Texas Highway Department in 1960 and retired in 1994. He enjoyed his 30 years of working for OK & Julia Gaddis and taking care of their cattle. Jim was a founding member of the Live Oak County Rodeo Club and loved helping and watching the youth of Live Oak County learn to rope.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Pugh; a sister, Hannah Yendrey; and two grandsons, Jason Dale Pugh and Hunter James Emerson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Pugh; two sons, James G. (Julia) Pugh of Sinton and Sam (Tammy) Pugh of Sugar Land; two daughters, Julie (Tony) Kaase and Bridget (Travis) Emerson, both of George West; and two sisters, Martha (L.T.) Davis of George West and Peggy Maltese of Cuero. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Dalton Wytovak, Savannah and Mason Pugh, Michael Byler and James Franklin, Ryan, Jacob and David Kaase, Travis W. and Elizabeth Emerson, Ashlyn, Gracie and James Pugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A Rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock with Deacon Shayne Katzfey officiating.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. George Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial will follow at Gussettville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Kaase, Jacob Kaase, David Kaase, Clayton Yendrey, William F. Pugh and Donny Liska.
Honorary pallbearers will be James E. Pugh, Travis W. Emerson, Elizabeth Emerson, Gracie Pugh, Ashlyn Pugh, Dalton Wytovak, Savannah Pugh and Mason Pugh.
Donations may be made to the Gussettville Cemetery Association.
