James Gray

James Norman Gray, 72, passed away on January 11, 2010. He was born July 10, 1937 in Beeville, Texas to Jim Frank and Bettie Jo Tuttle Gray and grew up in Blanconia. He married Joyce M. Godwin in Weslaco, Texas on June 23, 1955. He worked in the oilfields for many years and was retired from United Gas Company. Norman was a member of the Blanconia Baptist Church and was one of the founding members of the Blanconia Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William A. Myers, III. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce M. Gray of Blanconia; one sister Sara Gray Myers of Blanconia; two sons, Bruce (Sissy) Gray of Bishop and Jerry (Donna) Gray of Blanconia; two daughters, Judy (Gerald) Royal of Blanconia and Callie (Kevin) Shreckengost of Refugio; eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 5:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Blanconia Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Blanconia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Gray, II, Beau Gray, Brandon Gray, Kenny Gray, Johnny Young, and Richard Cantu. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Blanconia Volunteer Fire Department.
