James Crumrine

James R. "Jim" Crumrine died from a short hard battle with brain cancer on May 9, 2018.
James Reginald Crumrine was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 9, 1952. He was born to Joan McKenzie Crumrine and Moorman Bassett Crumrine. He lived his first few years in England where his father was stationed. He graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Tarleton State College. After college, Jim became interested in one of the loves of his life, the oilfield. His daughter, Jena, was born in San Antonio and shortly after he moved his family to Beeville, while working for Magabar, a product of Dresser Industries. Working offshore was not one his most favorite memories, so he moved on to own and operate Jim's Mobile Service Center. That is where he met his soon-to-be wife, Susan Wells. They married July 6, 1985. Jim loved his community and tried to give back some of the blessings that he kept receiving. Jim was the President of the Beeville Optimist Club also serving as the Lt. Governor for South Texas. Jim also was a member of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of the Beeville Rotary Club and a member of the Paul Harris Foundation. His interests also had Beeville's growth and improvement on his list of things to volunteer for. He was the current President of the Beeville Water Board. He served on the TIF Committee, the BEIC, the Vineyard Board, the St. Philip's Vestry and the St. Philip's School Board. Jim loved to bowl, he bowled on leagues for the past twenty-five years. Another of Jim's passion for life was the Bee County Junior Livestock and Homemaking Show. He loved to watch young people learning responsibility, work ethics, showmanship and pride with working on projects and raising animals. Jim volunteered every year to announce at the judging ring. He would rest up so he could do a good job for the kids. Jim and Susan started up a business "Stikmaker Sales" in October of 1997. This was his perfect dream life. Most people would call it a job, but Jim always said, "If you love what you're doing, it's not a job." Throughout his life, this profession gave him multiple friends from customers, opportunities from simply showing up. It was yet another way for him to give back to his community. Jim loved to be a behind-the-scene person, a Santa Claus of sorts, but a Christian most of all. Secretly "giving" to help others stand and get back on their feet, NEVER wanting to be acknowledged. One of the greatest honors of his life was being named "Friend of 4H" and having the Livestock Show dedicating the 2017 show in his honor. Jim and Susan were always seen together, they were best buds and a hell of a team. They are very active in their church, St. Philip's Episcopal Church of Beeville.

Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents, Joan McKenzie Crumrine and Moorman Bassett Crumrine.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan Edith Wells Crumrine; a daughter, Jena Renee Crumrine Halpin (Nick) of Honolulu, HI; grandsons, Samuel and Joshua; sister, Anna Beth Crumrine (Lorraine) of San Antonio; brothers, John Daniel Crumrine (Michele) of Middletown, DE and Andrew Crumrine of Lubbock, TX; sisters-in-law, Virginia Payne of Slidell and Rusty Wells of Paris; brother-in-law, Paul Wells (Lynn) of Paris; uncle, Elmer Crumrine of San Antonio; aunt, Caroline Gray (Herb) of San Antonio; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his "Prayer" group buddies who were his soul brothers and the men and women of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department.
