James Douglas “JD” Brown, 78, a dedicated refrigeration mechanic, passed away on September 3, 2025, at the Live Oak Nursing Center in George West, Texas.
JD was born February 17, 1947, in Cotulla to George Kenedy Brown and Kizzie Elizabeth (Tenery) Brown. He was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and dedication to others. His military service stands as one of his proudest accomplishments, and it is a testament to his character and values. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his career as a refrigeration mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George K. Brown and Kizzie E. Brown; a brother, George M. Brown; and two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Harrod and Lisa L. Smith.
He is survived by his brother, David K. Brown; and two sisters, Nola Y. Bradley and Kathleen J. Brown.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at Brush Country Cowboy Church in George West with the funeral service at 12 o’clock. Pastor Pat Traxler will officiate.
James will be laid to rest at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
