Jaime Perez Chapa

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jaime P. Chapa announce his tragic passing on Monday, March 4, 2024, following an automobile accident. He was 61.

Jaime was born December 23, 1962, in Beeville, Texas to Filiberto “Pine” Chapa Jr. and Estella (Perez) Chapa. He was a 1981 graduate of George West High School and later married Deyanira Duarte. The couple wed on December 21, 2008, in McAllen, Texas. They later made their home in Clute, Texas where he was employed as a skilled welder in the oil and gas industry with Wood Group.

Jaime was a faithful member of the Catholic church and was an avid outdoorsman. His greatest hobbies included hunting and fishing, but he especially loved treasure hunting on the beach with his metal detector. He also enjoyed collecting arrowheads.

Jaime was preceded in death his father, Filiberto “Pine” Chapa Jr., who died in 2017; and a sister, Celina Chapa Perez.

Left behind to mourn his untimely death include his loving wife of 16 years, Deyanira (Duarte) Chapa of Clute; mother, Estella (Perez) Chapa of Brownsville; son, Christian Jaime Chapa; a brother, Gerardo (Linda) Chapa of Brownsville; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Cecilio) Rodriguez and Miriam Duarte; brothers-in-law, Osvaldo (Nicole) Duarte and Guadalupe (Josefina) Duarte; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o'clock that evening.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.
