Jack Meyer

Jack Lee Meyer was born in El Paso, Texas on December 11, 1949, and went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2019.

Jack had loving Christ-centered parents, Arthur and Ruth Meyer. Arthur Meyer was on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. He received the Silver Star for his heroism on that day. Ruth Meyer raised four children to become strong believers.

Jack graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1971, where he met his single greatest joy and helpmate, Caroline Everett Meyer. She was his faithful and loving companion for the next 48 years. After graduating, he then volunteered for the Army as a 1st lieutenant, became an Army Ranger, and served in the Infantry for four years. After getting a law degree at UT, Jack rejoined the Army as a Judge Advocate. He served his country for more than 22 years retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He was deployed to more than 22 countries, and he received several medals including the Legion of Merit.

After coming to George West in 1995, Jack and Caroline built their home and rebuilt it after the flood of 2002.

Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church, George West, and he served as a deacon for many years.

He participated in the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Organization. He was deployed as both a yellow hat team member and a blue hat leader to disasters in Texas, the United States, and to nine foreign countries including Sri Lanka and Kurdistan.

He was blessed with three wonderful children, Alex, Jonathan and Rachel; two precious daughters-in-law, Debra and Monica; and three very special grandchildren, Bridgett, Justin and Rebecca.

Jack served his Lord and Savior, his family, and his country.
