Irene Armitage

Irene Armitage, 83, of Beeville, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013. Ms. Armitage was born May 26, 1930, in Marinette, Wis., to Otto and Irma Niehardt Boerner. She married Willie Merton on Nov. 26, 1945, and was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce (Wayne) Lee of Beeville; a son, William (Emmajean) Armitage of Houston; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Albert Boerner of New Hampshire and Jerry Boerner of Montana; and two sisters, Agnes Thompson of New Hampshire and Patricia Viles of Oregon. A graveside service was held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Brownsville.
