Helen Elizabeth (Hoelscher) Pugh, 85, of George West, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018.
Helen was born August 7, 1932, to Edwin and Irene (Ordner) Hoelscher in Violet, Texas. She married James F. Pugh in Violet, Texas, on April 7, 1953. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell TC and Morrison's Department Store for numerous years. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Irene Hoelscher; her husband, James F. Pugh; two brothers, Alvin and Joseph Hoelscher; and one sister, Gertrude Ghados.
She is survived by daughters, Debra Ann Pugh of George West, Mary Pat Stewart of George West, Cheryl Lynn Redding of Sisterdale and Susan Kay Stapleton of George West; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lorine York of Wharton and Sylvester Hoelscher of Violet.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 6 o'clock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at St. George Catholic Church in George West, with Father George Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Gussettville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Stewart, Todd Stewart, Tucker Redding, Joshua Stapleton, Wesley Stapleton and Eddie Robledo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Hoelscher and Ernest Hoelscher.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to St. George Building Fund.
