Harold Hudson “Rip” Wallace, Jr., 78 of Swinney Switch, was called home to his Lord and Savior, September 30, 2023.

Rip was born March 24, 1945, in Refugio, Texas, to Harold Hudson Wallace, Sr. and Ruth (Jones) Wallace.  After high school graduation, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University. He married Donna Wendel in Sinton on November 6, 1965.  He was an active member of the George West Methodist Church.  Rip dedicated his life to ranching. He was a man of many accomplishments whom also worked with Texas Farm Bureau as well as starting his own independent insurance agency.  He was a beloved member of his community very giving of his time and talents.  He was the recipient of the 4-H Gold Star for his outstanding commitment to the organization and was honored with the American Farmer Degree from the Future Farmers of America. He served and contributed in numerous capacities and he was a faithful supporter of the Live Oak County Fair.  In addition, he was recognized as a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a proud member of the Al Amin Shrine Temple in Corpus Christi.  Additionally, he founded and actively participated in the Live Oak County Area Go Texan Committee.  He was also a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as well as a lifetime member of the Area Go Texan Committee of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Harold Wallace, Sr., grandson C.J. Schindler and sister Anna Ruth Iley.

Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Donna (Wendel) Wallace of Swinney Switch; two sons, Harold Hudson “Trey” (Roberta) Wallace III and Brett Preston (Stacy) Wallace, both of Swinney Switch; a daughter, Rebecca Ann (Edward) Polasek of Tynan; five grandsons, Harold “Hudson” Wallace IV, Lane Wallace, Poncho Wallace, Jette Polasek and Carson Polasek; a granddaughter, Kylie Beth Wallace; two great-grandsons, Weston Wallace and Waylon Wallace; and sister-in-law, Ann Martin.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 5, at the George West Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, October 6, at the George West Methodist Church with Rev. Samuel Blanco officiating.

Burial will follow at the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Hudson Wallace, Lane Wallace, Poncho Wallace, Jette Polasek and Carson Polasek.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Holland, David Huser, David Weathersby, Jim Bednorz, Lorenzo Perez, Macario Valencia, Al Grumbles, Nate Mauer and Monty Schroeder.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of his many charities: Live Oak County Area Go Texan, P.O. Box 276, George West, TX 78022; George West Methodist Church, 501 Crockett St., George West, TX 78022; or Al Amin Shriners, Corpus Christi, TX.
