Harold Allen, Sr.

Harold Lester "Al" Allen, Sr., 87, of Bowie, Texas formerly of Beeville, died on June 25, 2016. Mr. Allen was born on February 14, 1929 to Mattie (Hoskins) and James Samuel Allen in Gilpin, Kentucky. He married Helen M. Buttery on August 18, 1953 in Kingsville, Texas. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran and had worked for Lockheed as a jet mechanic. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters; and great grandson, Alex Benavides. He is survived by his daughters, Ann (Les) Henry of Beeville, Kathy Branham of Victoria and Judy Steen of Belton; sons, Danny (Diana) Wise of Utopia, Mike (Susie) Wise of Mathis and Tex (Robin) Allen of Bowie; a sister, Louise Adams of Dennison; 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Bill Cotman officiating.
