Gladys Herod

Gladys Marie Staples Herod, 102, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018. She was born September 9, 1915, in Tuleta, Texas to her parents, Walter Ross and Olabell Taylor Staples. On June 30, 1937, she married Leldon Arlo Herod in Beeville, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from the Beeville Independent School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Olabell Staples; husband, Leldon Arlo Herod; brothers, Walter, Tommy, Robert and James W. Staples, Sr.; and sister, Velma.

She is survived by her two sons, Leldon G. Herod and wife, Nancy of Lake City, Texas and Gery L. Herod and wife, Shirley of Tuleta, Texas; six grandchildren, David Herod of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kenneth Herod and his wife, Stefanie of San Antonio, Texas, Jimmy Herod and his wife, Donna of Mineral, Texas, Kristy Herod Denwood and her husband, Randy of Beeville, Texas, Jennifer and her husband, Lane Smith of San Antonio, Texas and Samuel Glasgow of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Parker Herod, Ryan Herod, Natalie Herod, Josh Denwood, McKenna Taylor, Braden Smith and Amanda Herod.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Beeville Memorial Park.
