Gilbert Pollard

Gilbert Dewayne Pollard, 81, passed away on October 28, 2017. Mr. Pollard was born on August 25, 1936, to Fred A. and Frances (Reed) Pollard in Altus, Oklahoma. He married Gwendolyn Priscilla Porché on December 11, 1959. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, Texas, where he played football and was a member of the marching band (saxophone). He was the Corpus Christi Caller Times District Manager in Corpus Christi and later, Rural Circulation District Manager in Kingsville. He and Gwendolyn were co-owners of the Black Diamond Oyster Bar in Kingsville, Texas with his brother Deloy and sister-in-law, Darlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Tony Pollard, Dewey Pollard, Doyle Pollard and Deloy Pollard.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn Pollard of Kingsville, Texas; daughters, Audrey Delaine Pollard Gaston and husband, John of Boerne, Texas, Dana Rachelle Pollard Barker and husband, Everett of Ricardo, Texas and Diedre Annette Pollard Roder and husband, Lee of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren, Frank Miller Graham, III "Trey" (Kaleigh), Delaine Victoria Graham Faxel (Anthony Joseph), Samuel Collin Gaston (Brittney), Caleb Dewayne Gaston, Tessa Miriam Gaston, Stewart Martin Holliday, Jr. "Chip" (Molly), Matthew James Barker and Everett Calvin Barker, III (Denise), Dylan Michael Boss (Jordan), Cade Ryan Boss and Kamryn Elizabeth Boss; and 10 great-grandchildren.

"Mr. Pollard", "Honey", "Daddy", "Paw Paw", or "Son", was loved by so many and never met a stranger. The list of his beautiful attributes seems endless - kind, generous, hard-working, humorous, handsome, sweet, considerate, patient, gentle, etc. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word to say or a witty response to give...and, of course, big hugs for anyone and everyone. The phrase "To know him is to love him", is a perfect one to describe our precious husband, father, grandfather. He will always be remembered as one-of-a-kind. He was an incredibly special person, indeed.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Texas. A celebration of life to follow at 5 p.m. in the Ricardo Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Ricardo, Texas.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandson-in-law, Frank Miller Graham III "Trey", Samuel Collin Gaston, Caleb Dewayne Gaston, Dylan Michael Boss, Cade Ryan Boss, Stewart Martin Holliday, Jr. "Chip", Matthew James Barker and Anthony Joseph Faxel.
