Evelyn Jeanes, 89, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, in Granbury Texas. She was born September 25, 1927, in Columbus, Arkansas to Dan and Claire Hamilton.


Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. R.C. Jeanes; her parents; and brothers, Bill, Allen, and Robert Hamilton.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Jeanes; nieces, Helen Rosenbaum, Patricia Creel, Diana Leal, Kristie Vandergriff, Susie Fisher, and Betty Harper; nephews, Mike, Matt, Thomas Dale, and Bobby Joe Hamilton. Many great nieces and nephews; special "Fake Grandchildren" Lauren and Mikala Richmond; and many friends.

Evelyn lived in Beeville for 60 years, and had recently moved to Granbury. She taught school for over 50 years, with 38 of those years teaching First Grade in Room 3 at Tyler School. After she retired from teaching in Beeville ISD she taught at First Baptist Church School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Retired Teachers, Garden Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, at Galloway& Sons Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, March 31, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Homer Hanna, Rev. Greg Traylor, and Rev. Larry Martin will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Bob Granger and Mary Ellen Thoms.

Pallbearers will be Chris Freund, Larry Lee, Joe Linnstaedter, Chuck Richmond, Leon Svetlik, and Garrett Tindol. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Awalt, Robert Martinez, Erwin Massengale, and Ruben Perez.
