Evelyn Brown

Evelyn Seitze Brown, 96, of Beeville, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. She was born on Aug. 2, 1913, to Michal and Cora Mixon Seitze in Choate. She was a homemaker and a member of Word of Life Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Karnes City and volunteered to visit nursing homes regularly. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Gardner and Levi L. Brown; and one brother, Billy Seitze. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn L. Gardner (Robert) Smith of Beeville and Ethel L. Gardner Withers of Houston; three sisters, Rachel Scott of Arlington, Mabel Cockerham of SugarLand and Bobbie Jean Acopian of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Alton Seitze of Karnes City and Marvin Seitze of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Robert Dale Smith, Robert Withers and Rochelle Martin; and one great-grandson. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at 1 p.m., also at Galloway and Sons chapel. Pastors Doyle Barnett and Dale Switzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gideon Society.
