Evangelina “Eva” (Lopez) Herrera

Evangelina “Eva” (Lopez) Herrera, 80, formerly of Beeville, Texas, earned her wings Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at her home in Humble, Texas.

Eva was born July 25, 1943, to Carlos and Dora (Guerrero) Lopez in Tynan. She married Rumaldo Herrera on August 25, 1960, in Beeville. She was a faithful member of Christ Temple Church and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished nothing more than watching her family grow and being together with them for any occasion. Eva was happy whether she was worshipping, cooking, working, watching the family play sports (she was their No. 1 fan), playing games, or just laughing together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Dora Lopez; three sisters, Enedelia Lopez, Elirma (Lopez) Hernandez and Jessie Lee Meraz; and a brother, Johnny Lee Lopez Sr.

Eva’s life will forever be treasured by her husband of 63 years, Rumaldo Herrera, Sr.; children, Sylvia (Jim) Sharp, Patricia Merritt, Rumaldo (Virginia) Herrera, Jr., Dora Muniz, Rosie (Doug) Cafarella, Charlie (Elaine) Herrera and Arthur (Jolly) Herrera; four brothers, Timoteo “Timmy” (Annie) Lopez, Chrisantos “Santos” Lopez, Erasmo “Eddie” (Norma) Lopez and Christopher Lopez; four sisters, Elda (Benny) Martinez, Sr., Enedina “Dina” (Antonio) Villegas, Elmira “Dora” Bernal and Cristina Lopez; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with the funeral service at 3 o’clock that afternoon. Pastor Benjamin Vannoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Pallbearers will be Justin Cafarella, Andrew Herrera, James Herrera, Pete Muniz, Jr., Tim Muniz and Ray Muniz.
