Douglas Stuart

Douglas R. Stuart, 86, of George West, died Thursday, July 4, 2013. Mr. Stuart was born May 15, 1927, in Clegg to Gordon D. and Edna (Bryan) Stuart. He married Fern LaRuth Henderson in Houston on Aug. 28, 1953, and was a retired gauger for contracted oil companies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon D. and Edna Stuart; his wife, Fern Stuart; and a son, Michael Stuart. Survivors include a son, Richard B. Stuart of Bryan; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Stuart of Beeville; a grandson, Gordon M. Stuart; a sister, Peggy Jean Larde of Refugio; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Monday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at the George West Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
