Dollie Ann (Dugger) South, 89, beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully at her home in Beeville, Texas on July 13, 2025.
Dollie was born May 16, 1936, in Refugio, Texas to William Jefferson Dugger and Ada Mae (Burroughs) Dugger. She was a high school graduate and member of First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, Texas. She married Hugo B. South on August 24, 2017, and embraced her role as a loving wife. Dollie’s career was in retail sales when younger and she also worked in a daycare. Most importantly, Dollie embraced her role as a mother with boundless love and passion, always cherishing the little moments spent with her family. She loved plants and butterflies and enjoyed painting, gardening and large family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ada Mae Dugger; a son, Billy Martin Staley; brothers, George Dugger, Jimmy Dugger and Billy Dugger; sisters, Helen Bihl and Alma South; and husbands, Hugo South and Delbert Staley.
Survivors include her siblings, Bobby R. Dugger, Donald L. Dugger, Emmett Dugger, Rosalie Dugger Boykin, Alice Marie Dugger, Gladys Faye Dugger McHenry; children: Sharon King, Thomas King, Debra R. Alonzo, Brenda J. (Ronnie) West, Ernie (Ava) Hurst and Diana Rose Staley; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren and first husband, Billy Bob Staley.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with Brother Bob Ulrich officiating.
