IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dickie Bruce
Gray
January 4, 1956 – February 5, 2026
Dickie Bruce Gray, 70, of Blanconia, Texas, received his heavenly promotion to be with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, on Thursday evening, February 5, 2026, at his home, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 4, 1956 in Blanconia, Texas, to Norman and Joyce Gray, Bruce was a lifelong resident who embodied the heart of country living. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents. A hardworking provider and a man of quiet, simple strength, Bruce found his greatest contentment in the everyday blessings especially sharing quiet moments on the front porch or swaying on the swing with his devoted wife of more than 46 years, Katherine “Sissy” (Pfeil) Gray, whom he married on August 25, 1979. Their love was steady and deep, like the Texas sunsets they so often watched together.
With a true servant’s heart, Bruce was always the first to step up; no task too big or too small, no distance too far. He lived to help others, offering his hands and his kindness without ever seeking praise. His joys were simple and pure: the adventure of scenic train rides through beautiful landscapes and the endless delight of chasing his grandkids (and even helping raise a few during their earliest months). In his later years, he brought extra magic to every Christmas as Santa, filling little hearts with wonder and creating memories that will last forever.
Bruce is survived by his cherished wife of 46 years, Sissy; his children, Carri (Rick) Coleman, Kenny (Renee) Gray, Brandy (Jessie) Heaton and Brandon (Elizabeth “Chicki”) Gray; his siblings, Jerry Gray, Judy Gray and Callie Shreckengost; and a large, loving circle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the greatest source of joy in his life.
While our hearts ache with his passing, we find peace knowing Bruce is now in the presence of his Savior, whole and happy. His legacy of faith, hard work, selfless love and family devotion will continue in every porch moment, every train journey remembered, and every joyful Christmas yet to come.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Refugio, with Pastor John Smith officiating. Lunch will be served prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. The church is located at 310 Power St., Refugio, Texas 78377.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Bruce by donating to New Century Hospice or a charity of your choosing and pause to really appreciate the loved ones, beauty and blessings around you.
Rest in peace, dear Dad, husband and Pop. We love you forever and will carry you in our hearts always. ❤️
