David Lazaro Luna, 63, of Three Rivers, Texas was called home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in a Missouri City healthcare center following complications from an illness that developed after he beat cancer for the second time.
David was born July 8, 1960 in Karnes City, TX to Rafael Luna and Rafaela (Rodriguez) Luna. He was a 1979 graduate of Three Rivers High School and married his love, Dianna Marie Ochoa, on May 5, 1991.
David enjoyed spending time with family, playing with his grandkids, taking walks in his neighborhood or driving through his hometown, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and working at Lyssy & Eckel Feeds with colleagues who were like family to him. He was an active and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church – where he was a Fourth Degree Knight, former Secretary of the local council, and former President of the Church council. He made a lasting impact that will not be forgotten or lost, and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Rafaela Luna; his sister, Gloria Luna; his brothers, Carlos Luna and Joaquin Luna; and his beloved wife, Dianna Marie Luna.
Survivors include his children, Yvette Marie Rodriguez of Georgetown (42), Victoria Leigh Ann Luna of San Antonio (35), Jonathan Ryan Luna of Houston (32) and Michelle Renee Luna (fiancé Cal Hasie) of Austin (30); a son-in-law, David Rodriguez, Jr. (45); grandchildren, David O. Rodriguez, III (19), Ezekiel P. Rodriguez (12), Zechariah G. Rodriguez (4) and Emme D. Hasie (1); three brothers, Felix (Billie) Luna, Raymond (Nelda) Luna and Thomas (Lisa) Luna; two sisters, Sylvia (Carlos) Romero and Mary (Michael) Carvajal; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 25, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Three Rivers with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Ryszard Zielinski officiating.
Burial will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Dianna.
Pallbearers will be Felix Luna, Raymond Luna, Thomas Luna, David Rodriguez, Jr., Adam Romero and David Rodriguez, III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cal Hasie, Jacob Carvajal, James Luna, Carlos Luna II, Carlos Romero III and Ezekiel Rodriguez.
